NJ LOST 1 OF ITS GREAT BIRDERS -- Roger Dreyling, 84yo. 52 years ago, Roger married my cousin, Andrea. What a great addition to the family. Roger and Andrea's wedding reception was at Forsgate Country Club. Today, Roger's funeral luncheon was at FCC. RIP, Rog. 💔🙏🕊️😢

IN THE SAME SPOT every year are arguably the most beautiful scent in the NJ Pine Barrens -- flowers of trailing arbutus. Reminds me of Ma’s rose-milk lotion when I was a boy. Around Helmetta, we call them "May pinks." They bloom from about late March to early May.

We see our home planet as a whole, lit up in spectacular blues and browns. A green aurora even lights up the atmosphere. That's us, together, watching as our astronauts make their journey to the Moon.

The rare American Woodcock is plump, soft and rhythmic, and has become New York City's newest avian star. Bryant Park does birding tours, but the Woodcock needs no help attracting a crowd. It's become so popular, the park actually sells baseball caps with the fan favorite stitched onto them. "The bird brings New Yorkers together. We need so much more of that," said spectator Talisa Shevavesh. Spectators are enjoying their new neighbor, who in true New York spirit, marched to the beat of his own drum. abc7ny.com/post/american-…
