Ajike Owens’ children were playing in a field near an apartment complex when a white woman yelled racial slurs at them and said to get off her land. The children left behind an iPad which she stole. When one of the children came back to retrieve it she threw it at him and hit him with it. Owens knocked on the woman’s door and without even opening it she shot through the door, killing Ms. Owens.

As someone that went to highschool in this town, I can tell you it was only a matter of time before this happened. I feel absolutely helpless as I continue to watch my old state revert back to the Jim Crow era everyday.
