@MattAddison97 But if GK gets up + launches counter + WH score the ref is praised for a good adv? I’m no ref but for me error entirely on GK who didn’t play to the whistle. Then, as in my 1st e.g, once adv is played GK can’t just drop the ball cos he’d rather have a FK (or handle it, in my e.g)

@JoshBlamire It’s not the ref’s job to protect the GK error but it only happens because he hasn’t just blown the whistle to start with. He’s almost tried to be clever, got himself in a difficult situation for no reason, and then just about managed to get himself out of it.

I’m surprised how much has been made of this. Taylor signals advantage (not play on), and then uses common sense to stop the game when he sees what’s happened. He should’ve just blown straight away but got there in the end. As explained here: liverpool.com/liverpool-fc-n…

@MattAddison97 Ref’s action only understandable if GK goes down for treatment, which he didn’t. 2. What happens if Gakpo doesn’t proceed? Ref would continue to wave play forward, clock ticking, ball in open play, GK can take multiple touches (as not FK) but one team unable to play it?
