Couple of problems with that view, first is that the Didache is an instruction manual specifically for adult converts. Second, at the same time as the Didache, Hippolytus in Apostolic Tradition states the following: “Baptize first the children, and if they can speak for themselves let them do so. Otherwise, let their parents or other relatives speak for them.” He wrote this the same time that the Didache was written. Another problem is if infant baptism was not normative, you would have seen major controversy and uproar over it by the 3rd century, but you don't. The earliest writings we have of the church fathers all support it, with the only mildly dissenting voice being Tertullian, who also advised against baptizing unmarried adults. The fact that he wrote about baptizing infants is evidence it was a widespread normal practice. St. Iranaeus wrote c. 180 AD that “all who through Him are reborn to God—infants, and children, and youths, and old men,” and that Christ sanctifies every age, “becoming an infant for infants, sanctifying infants.” This practice was considered normative by the mid 3rd century, you have to take some huge logical leaps to say otherwise.
