The Sydney Kings advance to the Grand Final series where they will take on either the Adelaide 36ers or South East Melbourne Phoenix. John Rillie has taken a lot of criticism this season but does he deserve more credit? Wildcats in NBL26: • Semi-Final appearance • 4th offensive rating (new system) • 3rd defensive rating • Fewest points allowed in the league • 2nd in rebounding Add the development of players across the roster and Kristian Doolittle’s rise and there’s plenty to like. Yes, the lack of a true point guard hurt them. When Jaron Rillie ran the team early they looked far more organised but that’s a lot to ask from a first-year pro. Maybe some of the frustration aimed at Rillie belongs elsewhere. Mark… I have to do it. “No regrets?” #NBL #NBL26

Massive fan of the Will Weaver signing for the Brisbane Bullets. He was a coach who adapted well to the NBL’s style of play and led the Sydney Kings to the first place on the ladder in his sole season whilst making it to the Grand Final series where they lost to the Perth Wildcats. Experience in the NBA and France since then and he now joins the Bullets as the Head Coach and President of Basketball Operations. This is a big tick to the Bullets front office, taking the decision out of anyone else’s hands besides a basketball person who can lead, recruit and build a strong core around him. If Darryl McDonald is still interested in being an assistant, that would be a great thing for the Bullets but unsure if that would happen. #NBL26 #NBL

Scott Roth is looking like a proud dad right now. Every time the broadcast shows him, he is smiling and looking so happy with his team’s heart and grind. This is becoming a finals classic. #NBL #NBL26

Will Sam Mennenga return to the NBL next season? I think if he is to play next season it won’t be at the NZ Breakers unfortunately due to salary and maybe even wanting to play for a ‘bigger’ market franchise (yes slightly unfair to say). I personally think he was unlucky to not win the Most Improved Player award at the NBL Awards night on Monday. He has gone from a ‘role player’ to a genuine superstar in this league and best local at his position. NBL25: 22:19 MIN | 11.9P | 5.4R | 1A | 50% FG. NBL26: 27:43 MIN | 17.7 P | 6.9R | 1.7A | 53% FG. All increases from last season in minimal minutes increase and is a through and through NBA guy and will have a long career if he can increase his three point shooting.
