World Class Founders @Krishan499 @joshluber Krishan and Josh spoke at my “Founders Summit”: stunning! When the smartest people in the world in their industry teach, it is a different level…Wifey came by for “10 minutes” and stayed for 5 hours because she was learning so much!

Huge result for this Shohei Ohtani Ghostwrite last night at @GoldinCo. @joshluber & team have killed it with these league partnerships — trailblazing a new collectible category.

I have personally guaranteed that all player funds will be safe as this witch hunt from TABC plays out You still allegedly owe tens of millions. Shut the fuck up
Tom Dwan@TomDwan

@DougPolkVids You made a lot of your brand out of going after people in times like this. I hope you can take a minute to reflect, and realize the negatives of some of those choices. Hope you do stuff like that less in the future.

A brief history of modern sports cards and how blockchain cards fit in naturally. Read in full. - (Base set) 1986-89, each year Fleer NBA released a base set, no parallels + 11-card sticker set. Established base set as backbone. Stickers as a way to express outside binders. - (Rookie chase) Dealer Mr Mint found a stack of tiptop 52 Mantle & established rookie chase as a main direction. - (Authenticity) 1989 Upper Deck/UD entered the hobby w/ iconic Griffey RC. Hologram for quick authenticity. Introduced a rare auto as chase. - (Insert, junk wax) Fleer in 90s introduce a bunch of inserts, All-Stars etc. Still in junk wax era. Mass production, no rarity. - (Serialization, parallel, shiny) In 1996-97 NBA, Skybox introduced serial numbers in E-X2000, /499. Fleer introduced serials & variations in Showcase, /150, 3 variations. Kobe’s rookie class. Unthinkably rare then. Topps introduced first chromium product, shiny Topps Chrome. - (1/1) In 1997-98 NBA, Fleer introduced 1/1 cards in Ultra (main+subset) and Showcase (4 vers). Established parallel structure of 1/1, /100 & unnumbered. - (super rare) Same year, Skybox introduced rarest serialized non-1/1 cards in Precious Metal Gems (PMG) /10 in Metal and Essential Credentials (EC, player dependent but Kobe /8, and Jordan /9 etc) in E-X. Rare but not one&done. All started to serialize base parallels, Rubies /50 in Premium... - (design>) 1997-2000 is the peak of creative design. In parallel rendering & inserts. Rarity via serials & insert odds. - (connection to sports, Exquisite) 2000s era is an era of autographs and game used memorabilia. Connection to the game. UD in 2003 introduced Exquisite, in LeBron’s rookie year. All serialized, sub 225, small number of cases (~2k), 3 boxes /case, 5 cards /box at $500. First highest end product. - (Fleer excess) Fleer couldn’t compete in 2005, went bankrupt and IP acquired by UD. Sheets of cards reserved to replace damaged cards leaked, and some got cut up w/ aftermarket stamp to confuse w/ packpull. Collectors could tell by comparing serial fonts + other telltales. - (Sets vs Brands) 90s cards are known by sets (PMG not Metal, EC not EX), while 2000s cards by brands (Exquisite). - (Panini US) In 2009, Panini entered US market by acquiring Donruss IP (National Treasures), NBA exclusive license & Kobe’s rights. - (Prizm + NT brethren) In 2012, Panini rolled out 3 big brands, Prizm, Immaculate (designed by creator of Exquisite) & Flawless. - (scaling, case hit, group break) Panini introduced more parallels to scale release while ensuring hits, added case hit inserts. Product price went up and group break naturally arose to fractionalize the cost for more access (not only product, breakers not shops have more products, but also price point). - Grading became an important tool to add further necessary rarity to case hits and many parallels/releases. - (WS, Kaboom) Panini added reward systems, Panini points, White sparkle packs & in 2018 first Kaboom packs. - (WB excess) Spare cards no serial numbers reserved for damaged cards got released as Honors/WhiteBox cards. - (PaniniBC) In Jan 2020, Panini launched OG100 Blockchain cards. In summer 2021, introduced blockchain packs, Prizm debut. BC packs=release format since. 40 years of hobby from 1986 to 2026. #PaniniBlockchain was born into BC tech revolution but also naturally: - solves authenticity issue (UD hologram), - gives finality to releases (no Fleer or WB excess), - gives wide access and affordability, no group break needed. - Low BC:physical ratio is not a bug but a feature. More opps for more people. - Prizm base set parallels + Kaboom inserts + many beautiful designs. - Connection to sports involves users and ledgers. Frictionlessness w/ immediate ownership means cards often transacted at athletes’ peak moments post-release, stamping indelible memories onto immutable chain metadata. - Most items are super rare. Everything is serialized, often /99 or less. [BC 134/1959]

We always talking about supporting people from the sneaker community, well we have a big chance this weekend. Tyree, aka @SneadsbyRee, is the DIRECTOR of the new @The_Goat_Movie which is in theaters TODAY. Yall gather up the little ones and go show him some love. Also, the homie @JLaPuma makes a pretty funny cameo.

“I’m not going to convince you to read all 30,000 words” says Dr. Rovell. Well, first of all, it’s closer to 39K but, more importantly, that’s bc Darren is selfish. He wants all the knowledge (and fun) for himself. Don’t let him get over on you. Enjoy!

The hobby’s next white paper from @joshluber & @silverbird5K on “The BlindBoxification Of Everything” is an opus. Here are some of the highlights and the link, to at the very least, smartly skim. cllct.com/sports-collect…
