Late afternoon on Wednesday, my office was made aware of a bizarre glitch on Google Maps that was directing drivers to illegally proceed north on Winona Dr, past Beldivere Ave. We immediately escalated the complaint to the City’s Transportation Services division who contacted Google Maps to rectify the error. Upon request, the City also installed a temporary “Do Not Enter” sign to prevent cars from continuing north along Winona Dr to Eglinton.   Early this morning, the error was finally corrected on Google Maps and traffic has returned to normal.   I will be following up with Google Maps to understand what went wrong and what improvements can be made to prevent this situation in the future. These sorts of Google glitches cause real and immediate safety impacts on our streets. Google Maps needs to be far more responsive to residents complaints, and far more transparent about the processes in place.

I met with Downtown Softball League players from across Toronto at Little Norway Park today to tell the Ford government to keep their hands off our waterfront parks. We also invited Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria to join our team. Minister, there’s a spot waiting for you!

Come down to Little Norway Park at 3pm today! We’ve invited Doug Ford’s Minister of Transportation, Prabmeet Sarkaria, to play ball with the Downtown Softball League and see for himself how special our waterfront, community parks and neighbourhoods are, and why they shouldn’t be paved over to make way for more parking lots and massive runways. Minister, come join us! We want you on our team.

Parking lots and massive runways shouldn’t pave over what we love on our city’s waterfront. There’s a balance of uses now between the existing airport, nearby parks and livable communities. We can’t let Doug Ford screw it up.

In today’s Toronto Star, I write about a path forward to protect Toronto, and move forward with an ambitious and well planned vision for our city’s waterfront. Doug Ford’s voice is not the only one that matters. thestar.com/opinion/contri…

Hoping Minister @PrabSarkaria will join us for some ball at the park he's looking to pave over! Hit a dinger off me and then we can talk about expropriation! #onpoli @JoshMatlow

A 4 year-old taught a politician how to bake challah today. Thanks, David! It was a joy to join the students at Beth Tzedec, and their grandparents, for a challah bake together! The kids also made special cards for Jewish Family & Child Services as an act of helping others.

It only gets worse as details are revealed. The runway at Billy Bishop would need 900 meters of new landmass on Toronto’s waterfront for jets. To put this one in perspective, the height of the world’s tallest skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa, is only 829.8 meters.

Please join us at 1:30PM on Saturday, May 23rd at Metro Hall to discuss the future of the former Ontario Science Centre. Together, let’s reimagine it so that we can bring it back to life to serve the public again.

To make way for jets, Doug Ford could destroy the baseball diamond in Little Norway Park and turn it into an airport parking lot. I played ball with the Downtown Softball League to support their efforts to strike out Ford’s attack on Toronto.

The Don River and its ravines are some of our city’s greatest natural treasures. Let’s take care of them! It was a pleasure to join Don’t Mess With the Don, along with the amazing Councillor Rachel Chernos-Lin and MPP Adil Shamji, for a community clean up at E.T. Seaton Park this morning in Don Valley West.

Earlier this year, members of the Toronto Islamic Centre’s congregation were assaulted after leaving Ramadan prayers, including a 13 year-old boy. I believe that when any community in our city faces hate, intimidation or violence, we should rally around them, and show our support. Today, I was delighted to visit the masjid and join its members for a community clean up - and I look forward to working closely with them on even more ways to support our city and bring people together.
