I’m proud to be standing as a Liberal Democrat candidate in the 7 May 2026 local elections for Lee Green (Lewisham). Promoted by M. Morris on behalf of J. Lucas Mitte (Liberal Democrats), 99 Bradgate Road, London, SE6 4TR.

Zia admits, if an Englishman marries a foreigner and has children, then passes away leaving them to need social housing, Zia will deport them. If you become disabled, and have to resort to benefits and happen to have a family mixed with foreign national, your family is at risk.
Zia Yusuf@ZiaYusufUK

Robert’s answer is not Reform policy. As the person responsible for our deportation plan I want ensure people know where we stand: If a foreign national lives in social housing at taxpayer expense, they automatically fail our economic test and will be deported.

I always smell a bit of prejudice when people speak agaisnt tower blocks. As someone who grew up in Madrid, where flats are the norm, I just get a sniff of British classism. Flats may not be like your lawyer’s detached, but to call people’s home inhumane because not your vibe…
Benedict J Smith@BenedictSm55625

The people of Peckham didn’t want this and @lb_southwark protected their interests over those of a US multinational. This isn’t Nimbyism - people just want more humane homes.

Reform have proposed abolishing tax on overtime for every worker earning less than £75k. My take: 1. This appears to be an import of Trump’s extremely dumb (but clearly popular) ‘no tax on tips’ policy. 2. If your aim is to boost growth and incentivise work, this isn’t a good use of £5bn. It’s a luxury policy in all honesty: can they honestly say £5bn couldn’t go further elsewhere (either in tax cuts, infrastructure investment, or just improving public services)? 3. This will likely create lots of avoidance opportunities. 4. There will also be genuine cases of unfairness. What about workers with second jobs? 5. This is likely to create a massive cliff-edge problem where taking an extra hour of overtime or getting a raise leaves someone thousands of pounds worse off.

I love how one of the top arguments agaisnt PR is that FPTP produces strong and stable governments by preventing coalitions. Meanwhile the last Parliament to last its full term under the one PM was the coalition… FPTP’s huge majorities has us on potentially a 5th PM in 5 years.

What pisses me off is that Hannah uses being a plumber for working class credentials, while criticising the subsidies in Parliament that help thousands of public sector workers on low wages. The average plumber earns more than the average Parliamentary Assistant (£28k for LDN…)

An empty Sainsbury's in Stockport town centre will become 588 new homes. The £150m scheme on Warren Street will deliver three blocks up to 15 storeys, with 295 one-bed flats, 270 two-beds flats and 23 three-bed flats.

@BBCNews it’s worth pointing that the NHS now expects health providers to note that the gonorrhea vaccine may actually be 0% effective (according to incoming newer studies) before offering. And in any case was only believed to be 40% effective at first, feel important to mention.

@K_Niemietz Occassional reminder that a property development plan being blocked does not mean nothing can be built on that land for the rest of time. Didn't think you'd need reminding of that, but here we are.

@HCH_Hill It’s more expensive to commute from Zone 5+. Which is a significant cost to those earning the minimum wage.

Love that the big defence of the share of social tenants who work is that their housing arrangements are a vital subsidy for low wages. It's also no argument at all for not housing them in Zones 5+.
Joseph Elliott@J_Elliott94

Social renting Londoners in work disproportionately work in lower paid roles - in public services, health care, social care, education, in transport and hospitality work, and in administrative and cleaning jobs. Subsidized housing costs mean they're not priced out.

Ya know a few weeks back I realised that the Lib Dems actually got 200,000 less votes in 2024 than they did in 2019 and got 64 extra seats. Nothing to see here, working just fine.

@bencsmoke I don’t believe in standing down for opponents but will note this accelerationism mindset worked wonderfully for Americans. You’ve the left winning the crucial battles in far right strongholds like New York City, which stopped POTUS from triggering a war in MENA.

labour wont make the rapid, big changes we need to see to, for example, combat climate change, without solid left flank holding their feet to the fire. only way to do that is run against them not roll over out of their way because one of them said something progressive once.

we have to robustly reject this framing. a labour mp resigned their seat + forced a by-election. if a labour mayor cannot win a seat in his city against reform it will be a labour loss. if farage gets in in 2029, it will be bc of labours failures, not greens standing in elections
Matthew Todd 🌏🔥@MrMatthewTodd

This is a mistake which could be the fatal blow which allows Reform in, something which would have massive consequences for all of us.

@teomanonline_ @JoshMitte They used to try 16 years ago, issue is that they didn't understand Eurovision. Then Sam Rider showed we could win it if they really wanted to, but now they just don't care. Like who approved our act this year thinking it wouldn't finish last 😭
