This is not reporting. Firstly, notice how calm this interviewee is and his open body language. Notice how fidgety and agitated Don Lemon is. Again, this is not reporting, but an attempt to negate someone’s truth and opinion. What’s particularly notable: these questions are coming from a “veteran journalist.” Yet the follow-up questions aren’t attempts to understand *why* this interviewee believes what he does. Don Lemon is trying to discredit this man—someone Don stopped on the street, asking for his time. At a baseline, regardless of politics, this is a perfect demonstration of why people are struggling to understand one another. This isn’t an interview, nor a conversation.
