I hate to beat a dead horse but what’s happened to LAL is why I find waiving the white flag on a season inexplicable. What if that was SGA that got hurt? And you decided to shut it down bc your 32 year old pg is out despite having two healthy All-Stars and a DPOY candidate.

This is a limited roster offensively until there is a true PG on the court. He didnt start Reed because of defensive limitations, that’s pretty obvious. You can disagree, I may be with you. But there is logic behind it, pretending otherwise is disingenuous.

Stone and Ime keep saying this stuff to manage expectations and delay their performance reviews but they must not realize how ridiculous it comes off given the incongruence on the court. Why did it take until March for Reed to start? Why aren’t we experimenting with other stuff?

Ime, when asked about Reed not starting, said fans “see the offense and highlights” completely not addressing the real impact his gravity makes. I can get an NBA coach thinking we’re all just children wowed by crossovers but there’s no way he himself is this dumb, right?

My immediate reaction for Toppin to maximize his earnings and upside as a player in the next two years was maybe to redshirt next year and do something like a 2 year, 5M arrangement with Texas Tech? Like 1M in 2026-27, then 4M in 2027-28? He gets to recover while getting paid, he’d still only be 22 years old in 2028 at this time.

Feel horrendous for Toppin. Fascinated by how he handles his future in the offseason, and how Texas Tech handles its budget for him now given how late in the season this injury is.
Unfortunate reality of CBB is that this diagnosis immediately raises those strategy questions.
