Hey James, appreciate you jumping in. The first petition hit a procedural snag on consultation fair point. That’s exactly why we pivoted. Rath put himself forward as legal counsel and a resource, and he’s done good work for First Nations in the past. That doesn’t change the core fact that this is a citizen led movement. The people of Alberta are driving it, not any single lawyer. Two judges, two rulings we get it. But every time the system blocks Albertans from even asking the question, more people wake up to the reality that Ottawa isn’t listening. That frustration isn’t “separatism leading us to disaster.” It’s the growing realization that self determination will be the only way Albertans will be able to protect our economy, our resources, and our future. We’re not getting “played.” We’re paying attention. I appreciate thee dialogue, you're an Albertan! Can you answer this? What do you see as the better path forward for Alberta?

Hey Josh, isn't it kinda weird that the first petition they tried to push through got rejected almost immediately because of the failure to consult. And Jeffery rath who has made his career from defending first nations and arguing for the requirement to consult didn't mention that even when they pushed through the second one knowing full well it was going to ultimately fail sooner or later?

It’s revealing to see Canada’s reaction to a Liberal appointed judge shutting down Alberta’s referendum. Legacy media has abandoned any pretense of journalism completely. It’s just the usual panel of liberal pundits echoing the same talking points. It’s actually quite entertaining. What this whole event has doine is show Albertans exactly how the rest of Canada views them! They want us to shut up, keep writing the cheques to Ottawa, and be grateful you’re Canadian. Most critics keep framing this as an oil and/or pipeline issue. What theyre missing is it’s not. It’s about self determination. That fundamental point is being completely ignored, and that’s exactly why support for the movement will keep growing. Frustrating as it is, this is actually helping and will benefit independance!

Danielle Smith called out the truth. Alberta’s wealth has been drained for decades to fund provinces that vote against our interests. We are not a province in a fair federation. We are the ATM.

Imagine you have a child — a kid who’s incredibly resourceful and full of unlimited possibilities. Now imagine that child has siblings who constantly limit those possibilities. And imagine you’re the parent who allows it to happen, doing nothing to stop it. That child is Alberta

You should take a look and check the lists that these crazies put you on. Go to your profile → tap the More button → tap Lists. In the top right, hit the three dots. This will show you every list you're added to. If you want off the Lefty hate lists, just block the person who created it. That removes you instantly.

Albertans!!! We followed every BS rule the provincial system laid out… and still got completely screwed. Elections Alberta approved the independence petition on January 2, 2026. Thousands of brave Alberta volunteers, organized, badged and following strict rules were forced to start collecting signatures in the middle of the cold Alberta winter. They did it! For 4 straight months these dedicated Albertans stood outside in freezing conditions on the side of highways, in parking lots, and at store entrances because that’s what the process demanded. No online clicks. Physical signatures only, from real eligible voters. They smashed the requirement and delivered hundreds of thousands of signatures!!! Now the courts (with federal influence and treaty claims) are trying to kneecap the entire thing. This is what “CANADIAN DEMOCRACY” looks like!!! Make Albertans go through the process to have their voices heard… then move the goalposts when they actually succeed. Absolute bullshit. Alberta deserves way better than this!!! Get your @Alberta_UCP membership and lets turn this around! unitedconservative.ca/take-action/me…

Gregory! Is this just trolling now or are you being serious at this point.... If this is for real you’re still completely missing the point. The Alberta government didn’t “write out” the duty to consult. Bill 14 updated the rules for citizen petitions and Elections Alberta approved THIS petition on January 2, 2026 under the NEW law. The court ruling came AFTER that approval and is under appeal precisely because they’re trying to apply a duty to consult retroactively to a citizen initiative. Rath can have all the opinions he wants from his old cases. Doesn’t change the fact we followed the law that existed when we filed and when it was approved. You’re still mixing timelines and cases, Greg. It’s getting sad at this point. Please tell me all those children you taught are smarter than this… because I might have to start charging you tutoring fees.

UCP/Smith will tell us that if we want independence we will have to run a party and win an election on the issue, when they told us and the federal law claimed otherwise moving the goalposts is so LIB ps even if we get our own party and run an election the feds will not allow us to leave, peacefully

Your genuinely exhausting and I give you an F for effort! The citizen petition was approved by Elections Alberta on January 2, 2026. This was waaaay long before any voter-list controversy. Signature collection was physical signatures only, collected in person by volunteers, exactly as the law required at the time. The Centurion Project voter list issue is a separate investigation that has nothing to do with the validity of the signatures already verified under the rules that existed. I know, for some this is hard to understand... You keep conflating unrelated events, old rulings, and different groups while ignoring basic timelines and facts. That’s not critical thinking, that’s just cherry picking screenshots to fit your narrative. The province is appealing the ruling for exactly the reasons we’ve stated. Try reading the actual timeline next time

Exhausting how you still can’t grasp a simple timeline. Pay attention, this is key! Elections Alberta approved this citizen petition on January 2, 2026 after Bill 14 updated the rules. The court ruling you’re quoting came AFTER that approval and is under appeal by the province. The Sylvestre/Feasby screenshot you keep posting was about a completely different question under the old rules. You’re mixing up timelines and cases. Facts still matter. The petition followed the law that existed when it was filed and approved.

@JoshSmolt It was unconstitutional from the get go, but your crew think the rules don't apply to them. ......and the most recent judge ruled that Elections Alberta approving the petition was unconstitutional. Even Rath disagrees with you.

When 500 UCP members have a problem, it's their problem. But when 300,000 UCP members have a problem, it becomes the UCP’s problem. Dani said she would listen to cabinet and caucus, not the party. Let’s send her a clear message, shall we?

He/Him, Before you cite that SevenFiftyBlog post again, that’s about a completely different proposed question under the old rules, before Bill 14 changed the law. Elections Alberta approved this citizen petition on January 2, 2026 after the bill change. The province is appealing because the court is treating a citizen initiative like a government one and moving the goalposts after the fact. You’re a teacher! You should stay educated, not ill-informed. Rules should apply the same to everyone… even when you don’t like the outcome.

300,000 people signed a petition for a vote. But a reserve with 33 people on it gets a veto, according to a Trudeau-appointed judge. Oh -- and their chief is literally an anti-oil activist on a foreign payroll. Source: torontosun.com/2014/01/17/fir…
