I think the reason people stop learning and doing new things as they age is because they believe when they die, the awareness they call themselves dies with them.
It does not, the body fails, your awareness continues. I think if people understood that they’d continue to explore

The U.S. has to grow above the average cost of its debt to keep the show going.
That requires widening wealth inequality, until the average interest rate on the debt exceeds the growth rate.
Then the show stops, as wealth becomes maximally concentrated and productivity falls.
One way to address this is to replace most jobs with AI and robotics, and put the majority on a universal basic income within a police and surveillance state.
That seems to be the strategy.
That requires vast amounts of energy and data centres.
That’s why they’re changing the world order to build them.
For a portfolio manager, it’s just maths.
For a humanitarian, the human cost is tragic.
Only those with assets that outperform inflation have a chance to avoid becoming UBI slaves.
