No one seems to have the foresight to realize that this all ALL about containing China and breaking up the alliance between them and Russia. If the USA does not intend to honour the obligation to defend NATO because European countries dont join an offensive war of choice against Iran that we have absolutely no obligation to join, the USA membership of NATO is already worthless. The NATO oath to defend each other is unconditional. If you dont intend to honour it because you are offended about disagreements that have nothing to do with the treaty obligation that you have sworn to uphold, your are not a realiable ally. Tresties with you are worthless and your word means nothing. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case for the USA.

One more thought I wanted to share was that all of this accelerated dramatically after the council of Trent when Catholics actually affirmed the tenants of Pelagianism (the very thing that they uphold Augustine for defeating). Catholicism today does not reflect what it was even during the time of Aquinas when the Greek classics were rediscovered and in my personal opinion reflects something between Old Testament Jewish practice and protestant Arminianism.

It's the exact same thing the Pharisees did. They have a doctrine of God that is a little hard to understand (specifically the hypostatic union of Christ and understanding how he can be born of woman and not tainted by sin). Because they want to protect it from heresy they start building fences of theology around it (immaculate conception, perpetual virginity) that have 0 bearing in scripture and then violate Jesus's command to not add to scripture anything. The Pharisees did it by adding traditions on top of traditions. For example the washing of hands and crazy rules on what you could/couldn't do on the sabbath. In the EXACT same way, Roman Catholics have invented a ton of doctrine that has no real source in scripture. Does that help?

I never understood the purpose of this doctrine. Obviously Mary was a virgin when she had Jesus, but why must she remain perpetually so? Especially when the Bible talks about Jesus’s brothers. She was married to Joseph and sex within marriage is good, not sinful.

Just one clarification. The Taiwan issue is a threat to America and it's ability to defend itself because of TSMC. If previously leaders hadn't let Americans chip industry atrophy, we wouldn't care about that item and you'd be correct. I believe that everything done in the last year is actually Trump trying to avoid a Taiwan conflict. Cut off all the arms of the communist octopus and battle test against the exact equipment we'd have to face.

What are you talking about? I think you vastly underestimate America, first and foremost, but that's fair, you're European. You haven't seen real America up close. No worries there, we'll move on. Firstly Screw the Russia-Ukraine conflict, that's their own mess to clean, and Europe's. America shouldn't be sending anything with $$ attached to it that way. The Iran problem should have ended in the 1990's... or early 2000's. Now THAT was squandered opportunities and priorities. Here? Simple, end the IRGC, or at least their aggressive aspirations, and squeeze China with tariffs, building back manufacturing in the US. I don't care about China, its not a "Threat" to America. I'm just done with them ripping America off with low-priced garbage that creates a baseline to hide how bad the Global Economy really is due to Western offshoring of Blue-Collar work.
