To return to songs, briefly, there's a well known hymn (Amazing Grace), that has a closing verse that says "When we've been there ten thousand years [...] we've no less days to sing God's praise than when we first begun."

Times a funny thing; when I was younger, Smashmouth taught me that the years start coming and they don't stop coming - emphasising the speed and pace of life racing past us. But then a few years later Madonna came along and told me that time goes by so slowly.
