I've seen AI agents do dumb things. Everytime someone says "No you have to do ABC, then XYZ" That makes it a tool, not a replacement for the one using the tool. I foresee a lot of engineers getting hired back in the next 24 months.

One day client/server communication will look totally different. If both have access to the same local model & temp=0, one node doesn't send all data to the other, just the prompt used to generate the information it would have transmitted. Probably 10-50x compression.

@d33v33d0 With AI lowering the barrier to entry for complex machine to real life interaction I see this type of fault isolation and resiliency becoming much more critical. Imagine you augmented nursing staff, poor system design could kill people.

So today there was actually an arduino crash. For several hours claude was missing all of his senses with the exception of the camera. The experiment was jeopardized. He couldn't fix it. This is actually a good case study in how to address system reliability and fault tolerance in this kind of enviornment. First off, on the next iteration the arduino goes in the garbage. Secondly- dual microcontrollers with watchdog timers or Ics. So that if one fails, claude has a backup. This is funny because we take for granted "just unplug it and plug it back in". How does an AI like claude do that? Now I'm thinking of how to incorporate that logic into the next iteration. Two sets of MCUs with relays on the MCU power rails is one idea. But this is how these things go. You learn what breaks, you iterate and improve it on the next one.

I keep seeing these "Kubernetes was too much, we moved to..." articles and I can't figure out why. One even said they went back to bash scripts. These teams can't have more than a handful of services. Also I am interested in why people think it's hard.

Reading this book I realize now why the em dash is so prevalent in AI output.
