Future research could uncover how a wide variety of health-related events related to other issues than vaccination can trigger processes shaped by pre-existing views, like events related to medically unexplained symptoms or vaccination against COVID-19. 8/8

These opposing views on vaccination are likely to inspire different responses to the same health-related information. Future research could uncover how they play a role in the population at large and how they play a role in the reception of health-related information. 7/7

Consequently, the same vaccination decision (e.g. not vaccinating against measles) can be made for different reasons: because measles are seen as crucial to natural development, or because the scientific basis for the measles vaccine is deemed insufficient. 6/7
