On Protestant funerals (I’ve officiated dozens and dozens). The dead person is… - said to be in heaven - said to have lived a virtuous life - spoken of in the most positive terms by all - prayed for (“May he rest in peace”) - given a special place where his remains may be kept and visited and cared for - spoken to as though he can hear what is said - said to be looking down upon his loved ones - said to be waiting for those who remain and will greet them on their own death - given special hagiographic write ups in public papers and online obituaries - put up as an example of some particular virtue worthy of emulation - remembered for particular Christian devotion, favorite hymns, verses etc. - remembered by slide shows videos and photos placed near their remains and sometimes on a special monument (called a grave marker) to be remembered - visited later by relatives and spoken to even years later as though he can hear - has a photo published in a special program for his “memorial” or “celebration of life” which his often kept in a special place which often provokes fond remembrance reflection and conversation. In other word - Venerated.

The Church hasn’t always had the Bible. It was canonized in the 300s, during a time when most people were illiterate anyway It has always had Sacred Tradition, which is what gave us the Bible to begin with That’s why some Catholic beliefs and practices “aren’t in the Bible” They predate the Bible. We didn’t stop these things just because the Bible that Sacred Tradition eventually gave us didn’t mention it. Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition complement each other. They don’t cancel each other out Zoom out. “Scripture alone” would make zero sense to early Christians

@MensaChick @TheStaad It is true, no everything Jesus did is written in the bible (John 20:30). How do you reconcile your position with John 20:31 in regard to purpose, & the phrase ..might believe..& ..might have life.. (KJV). Do you see scriptures as enough help you acquire life thru his name?

Veneration is NOT worship and never has been. Worship is adoration—for God alone. Veneration is a much lower level of honor given to Mary & the saints. It’s NEVER adoration, & therefore never worship. The theological terms make this clear:

To the protestants out there, here’s a question for you. Do angels exist? Do they interact with the material world? If your answer is yes, then how can you not also believe in the interaction of the Saints with this material world?

If the Bible did not exist, Christianity would still exist. If the Church did not exist, Christianity would not exist. It was the Church, not the Bible, that preserved apostolic teaching, defined orthodoxy, and rejected heresy. Without the Church, there would be no authoritative body to safeguard the faith.

@JosseousN @DrShayPhD Who is being talked to here? Is it not the same group Paul brought out of Sunday worship and into the sabbath worship and the Jews didn’t want them there. In fact that’s why Paul was arrested in Acts. Fun facts!
