Migration do not redefine the identity of an entire people. Many African communities even non africans trace origins to other regions through migration, but over time, they form new identities and languages and cultures If ancestry alone determined ethnicity, then many communities across southern Nigeria that trace historical links to Benin Kingdom would all be Edo today including Igbos and Yorubas which obviously isn’t the case.

UNLOCKING PROGRESS: ANIOMA STATE IN SOUTH EAST The creation of Anioma State is not just a political aspiration. It is a call for equity, justice, and balanced development within the South East. For too long, our region’s structure has remained incomplete. The inclusion of Anioma will not only restore fairness but also strengthen the socio-economic and cultural foundation of the South East. Join me this Saturday, 1st November 2025, at 6PM (WAT) on X Space as we engage in a meaningful conversation on “ANIOMA STATE IN SOUTH EAST: What would Anioma State bring to the table?” Together, we will explore the economic, cultural, and political value Anioma brings and how it can drive unity and progress for Ndi-Igbo and Nigeria at large. 🎙️ Host: @faith_chiazor 📺 Also streaming live on Facebook & Instagram: @SenatorPrinceNedNwoko Let us reason together and shape the path toward a stronger, more inclusive South East. Distinguished Senator (Dr.) Prince Ned Munir Nwoko #AniomaStateInSouthEast

"Adada State is not as viable as Anioma..." - Kenny Okolugbo

Anioma State Creation: A Viable Proposition - Okolugbo The debate about Anioma's inclusion in the South East region has been marred by misconceptions, with many attributing the agitation to a one-man agenda driven by Sen. Ned Nwoko. However, this movement has been ongoing for over 50 years. Some of our brothers from the Ndokwa and Ukwuani extraction who resist being classified as Igbo are in denial. We cannot deny the cultural and linguistic affinity between our people in Ndokwa, Ukwuani, and the Anioma area. With the largest gas reserve in West Africa located in Ndokwa, Anioma State is a viable proposition. If a referendum is conducted and Anioma is chosen, a possible collaboration with Anim State would ensure the South East is no longer landlocked. Kenny Okolugbo, Strategic Communications Consultant to Senate President Godswill Akpabio

Before Ned Nwoko began pushing for the creation of Anioma, none of you or your leaders mentioned Etiti or Adada. Please keep that agenda aside, we don’t want it. We want Anioma State, and we fully support its creation!
