This suggests that play must hold importance, yet it remains poorly understood and is often dismissed as just a trivial pursuit for young children. Today’s educational approach tends to favor reducing playtime, encouraging children to transition quickly to adult-like responsibilities in order to achieve better outcomes in adulthood. Ask a soccer (or Cricket, baseball, basketball, tennis, etc) coach, 'Can you teach soccer better than play?' They will hem and haw, but you don't need an answer from them, their action speaks louder than words. Because if they believed it they would already be using it.
