We Floridians get the final say regarding who we want to be the next governor of Florida. We aren’t going to bow down to those who want to install a candidate who we don’t want to be governor who isn’t qualified and who is not serving the constituents of Florida and only serving his wallet and his donors. That is why I support Jay Collins. Not because he’s inevitable. Not because politics owes him anything. Not because a consultant told me which adjective to use. I support him because he is the kind of man Florida should want more of in public life: tested, grounded, serious, warm, disciplined, normal, and surrounded by people whose loyalty is not manufactured by ambition. The cynics and nihilists will sneer at this because cynicism and nihilism are easy. They require no courage, no discernment, and no labor. One simply stands at a distance, mistakes suspicion for intelligence, and calls every decent thing fake and gay before anyone can accuse you of believing in something.
