Pennsylvania holds two state legislative special elections in six days, one in the House (HD-35 / Allegheny) and one in the Senate (SD-36 / Lancaster). 🔵2024 Harris +15.8% (HD-35) 🔴2024 Trump + 15.3% (SD-36) Despite a reasonably close presidential result, each party conceded these races in their last election. Democrats ran unopposed in HD-35 in '24 and Republicans in SD-36 in '22. Absentee requests (now closed) for both races suggest Democrats are in line for an easy hold in Allegheny and a potential flip in Lancaster. Each race shows Democratic voters generating a 15%+ greater net absentee margin than in '24. Combining that increased D absentee margin with a known poor overall turnout means Republicans desperately need "enough" ED votes Tuesday to hold SD-36. Democrat Dan Goughnour is in for one of those 25-35 point Democratic overperformances in HD-35, while Republican Josh Parsons will be holding on for dear life in SD-36, hoping to avoid disaster.
