We were 4 boys in a borrowed Honda heading to Kaduna for a wedding none of us was officially invited to. Ike drove like he was fleeing a crime scene. Wale controlled the AUX with the tyranny of a man who believed his playlist was divine. Nafiu sat in the back, quiet, working his tasbih and occasionally muttering, Ina roƙon Allah ya kiyaye mu. I sat beside him, holding the cooler of jollof rice my mother had forced into my hands. The road was long. The music was loud. The friendship was held together by history and insults. Somewhere after Zaria, the Honda coughed. Not the small cough of a car clearing its throat. The deep, rattling cough of a vehicle preparing to meet its ancestors. Ike's eyes widened. Omo, wetin be that? Wale turned down the music. Nafiu's tasbih stopped moving. We pulled over. Ike opened the bonnet. We all stared at the engine like it was a textbook written in a language we had failed in secondary school. Nafiu said, Wannan ba ƙaramin matsala ba ne. Wale said, Ọmọ, this engine ti daru. Ike said, Chai, see wahala. A small boy appeared from the bush. Maybe 9. Barefoot. Carrying a stick and a plastic kettle. He looked at the car. Looked at us. Said, Uncle, your motor don cry. Ike said, Oya, go call your father. The boy vanished. Returned with an old man in a flowing riga, his face weathered like leather left too long in the sun. He walked around the Honda twice, touched the bonnet briefly, and said, Ku zo. Come. We followed him to a small settlement behind the trees. Not a village. Just a cluster of mud homes and one surprisingly clean compound with a generator humming. His name was Mallam Garba. He was a retired mechanic from Kano who had moved to the bush after his wife died. He said the city was too noisy for grief. He fixed the Honda with a piece of wire, a prayer, and something he called man fetur mai tsarki. Holy engine oil. Ike asked how much. Mallam Garba waved his hand. Ku ci abinci tukuna. Eat first. His daughter brought out tuwo and miyan kuka. We ate with our hands, sitting on mats under a neem tree. Wale said, E se gan. This soup sweet well well. Nafiu said, Allah ya saka da alheri. Ike said, Nna, this food is something else. We stayed longer than we planned. Mallam Garba told us about his wife. About the city. About why he chose silence over sirens. He did not ask us about our lives. He just fed us and fixed our car and sent us back to the road with a bag of groundnuts and a warning: Kar ku yi gudu. Don't speed. We reached Kaduna late. The wedding was over. The rice was finished. The celebrants had gone home. Ike parked the Honda outside the darkened venue and killed the engine. Nobody spoke for a full minute. Then Wale said, So na the food we chop for bush be the wedding. Nafiu laughed. Ike laughed. I laughed. We drove back the next morning. We did not stop at Mallam Garba's settlement. But Ike slowed down as we passed the turning. Nafiu's tasbih was still. Wale hummed a Fela tune. I looked out the window at the path leading into the trees. The road stretched ahead. The car was silent. And I wondered, not for the first time, why the best meals are always the ones we never planned to eat. And whether Mallam Garba, alone in his compound, ever thought about the 4 boys who arrived with a dying Honda and left with full stomachs and a question none of us knew how to ask.

Scar from the Lion King. He is the only lion there that behaved like a lion. Mufasa was running that Kingdom like a circus. "Hey, look. I know I eat you but I really like you. Come look at my son who will grow up to eat you". Busy involving monkeys in lion affairs and leaving his brother to have no choice but to form frienships with the enemy hyenas. He had every right to fight for that throne because that is what male lions do. He didn't even kill that dude, it was the wildebeests that finished him off. The same ones he was doing musicals with. To show that he was right, Simba started a new life of eating bugs when he ran away because he has the same weak genes as his father. When there was a drought, Scar didn't eat bugs. He kept it real and starved, but they made it seem like the drought was his fault. He was leading in difficult times! When it was now convenient and the rains were coming, your Bug Eating king came back to take on a starving Scar while he had a stomach full of caterpillars and cockroaches because even when living with prey he is not the leader. Scar's only mistake was letting Simba live. If he killed that little dude then the rains would come and the Kingdom would thrive again under his leadership. But no, he let him live and he came back when it was convenient because he can only lead in good times like his useless father. Mufasa and Simba were good dudes, Scar was just a real lion. Which is what you would expect in a movie about lions 🤦🏾‍♂️

In life, we are all middle-men, you are not the best, you're not the worst either. Whether it's power, money beauty, height, wisdom, influence or information...SOMEONE HAS MORE THAN U, so lower ur pride & ego. SOMEONE HAS LESS THAN U, so feel motivated, that you're also trying.

I have never touched the money I get from twitter AD revenue. I hardly even check the account until the last payout. When I opened the account yesterday and saw about 18M, I was like wow, so I have this much from Twitter already? And I hardly have viral tweets. Meanwhile, I once said when I'm ready to change my car, it definitely must be an SUV because of the nature of my job. The 18m still can't buy what I have in mind but I can still raise up to 10M from my other account. So I called my babe to hint her of the plan. She was shocked that I could accumulate 18M from just tweeting. However, when I told her of the plan to change my car, she felt uncomfortable and said “Babe, 28M for a car? We could add money to that and start developing that your land. Another 10-15 million to that could give us a decent modern bungalow. So I suggest you maintain your current car. Well, I insisted. I want what I want, I will definitely build but not now. She became angry and said if you don't listen to me now, I don't see you listening to me when we are married. I said look, the plan is to give you the current car while I use this one. Or do you like how you queue in BRT to work every morning like Ella? Her mind came down and said babe are you for real? I said yes naw. Awww she hugged and kissed me. That was how she agreed to the plan to buy this beautiful Lexus. That also tells me people don’t always oppose your decisions, they just haven’t seen how it benefits them yet. Anyway, I have a new car. Thank you @elonmusk, thank you all my followers. Happy April Fools’ Day!😂
