Talent gave me a start.
Hard work gave me an edge.
But becoming a savage — that’s what built my career.
Because talent can open doors, but it won’t keep them open.
Hard work sets you apart, but only for a while.
It’s the mindset — the relentless, ruthless commitment to growth, pain, and pressure — that turns potential into greatness.
Anyone can start with talent.
Few have the guts to become a savage.

Congrats to all of our jr terrier and American hockey academy teams for making the state tournament. From dropping the field from 12 to 8 teams and representing in 5 teams out of 7 brackets we are terrier proud. Bring it home boys! #statetournament
Thank you to, co founders Ashley Cameron and Kerri Mulvey, as well as Ray Leblanc, long time friend Tony Mcguahey, and other volunteers of the Boston Defenders, for skating at our canton sportsplex last night. It’s our pleasure to donate to such a great group of gifted hockey players who enjoy the game for the love of the game no matter what obstacles life throws at them. The players were all smiles and had a great time seeing each other and practicing together. !! Can’t wait to have them out again! Go defenders! #noboundaries#hockeyisforwveryone
Holidays are upon us and if you missed the summer swag here is your chance to get your American Hockey Academy good! Happy shopping!

KIDS: Every level you go up, you'll see less and less players trying to beat defenders 1on1.
It's all about puck movement because it's harder and harder to beat players by yourself. Players are too good defensively at the next levels. Here are two great examples of really good players trying to go through a defender - but they turn it over and it goes the other way in transition for a goal.
If you have a coach preaching passing when you're younger - even if you're highly skilled and can beat defenders 1on1 pretty easily - that's a coach that's helping you to succeed at the next levels.

COACHES: This is not a flashy clip but shows amazing breakout principles from each player on the ice.
Great shoulder checks from D1 going back to get the puck on first touch, and then he activates up ice on the weak side.
Great surf and defensive stick to force the dump from D2 - and then close support as D1 had heavy pressure. He's also shoulder checking.
Great use of body to shield the puck from pinching D and outlet to C from the RW.
Great low and slow support from the C behind the puck.
Great job by the LW stretching out the opposing D creating the lane and space for D1 coming up the ice.
Everyone shoulder checking. Everyone working to get up ice after their puck touch. If you go back and watch each player in this clip individually, it's beautiful.
All of these little things add to a great breakout sequence that starts the play for the goal. An incredible clip to show your teams!!
