Journalists ask coaches in press conferences if their job is in danger after just two defeats. On social media, many people seem to know better than those who actually coach. Even players now show their frustration towards the coach when they’re subbed off — something that used to be unthinkable years ago. The respect for coaches, for leadership, for the work behind every decision… is fading fast. We can debate tactics, selections, and style — that’s part of football. But what we’re seeing lately goes beyond criticism. It’s personal, constant, and often cruel. Coaches deserve more respect.

@MrR1g4t @stevephipps83 They were vulnerable at the back though and I think we took the pressure of their back line by being too negative in changes. It was a solid performance away from home overall, I wouldn’t say good, first half was good, second was a mix bag which ruined it for me overall

@Jrownes @stevephipps83 It’s a balance, against top opposition, open up too early you’re out the game by 65mins. Yest perf really isn’t something to be getting angry about. It wasn’t perfect, but as away performances go in the PL against top opposition at what is generally a fortress.. it was good.

@MrR1g4t @stevephipps83 Arias is a fair enough point. Lopez I think needed to come on at HT happy with the team that started and happy with the first half performance but when you’re needing a goal, you need to take a gamble. My criticism is the changes came too late

@Jrownes @stevephipps83 Arias only returned from Colombia Friday morning… had been involved in both games. He was never going to play many minutes. Lopez.. I think he’s a top talent, but Newcastle wasn’t the game for him from the start. It would have made the team more vulnerable defensively.

@MrR1g4t @stevephipps83 Again agree with that. If you knew Tolu would be coming off earlier why not bring on Arias or Lopez at HT so we could have two actual ST’s running off a creative threat? That’s what our attacking phase was crying out for and it’s why we looked better after the changes

@Jrownes It was obvious we’d struggle more once Tolu went off… @stevephipps83 called this pre game. VP did the right thing in managing his minutes & those of the late returning internationals.

@Seagz_ @AJReade Thing is you can say that’s a good thing, if you do well here we will let you go to a top six club but then you have to invest and be smart like Brighton do. Difference is the replacement is usually already there for them the season before

@Seagz_ @AJReade Akanji is a fair point but grealish is never coming here. Plus those wages were just never going to pay these days. Can’t disagree with the not being ready, just think the signings will come good and we will be mid table and need to build from there.

@Jrownes @AJReade Don’t need to spend £40m. Akanji was available for £15m. Grealish available on loan. Instantly improve our squad. City are paying half his wages. Wasted 9 points already not being ready in August, whole things a shit show really and now the players will need time to adapt

@Seagz_ @AJReade Or we know we can’t really go out and spend £40m on Dibling, £40m or whatever on Fernandes. Our revenues can’t back that type of spend. Every signing is a risk, trust the manager knows what profile he wants and back him. Which is what’s happening slowly

@Jrownes @AJReade Yes, because he scored 14 goals, it’s a gamble.. which paid off.. most of them don’t.. we’re risking prem status with a bunch of unknown players, when there’s been plenty of prem proven players available this summer but we just want to get the cheapest option

@Seagz_ @AJReade JSL never wanted by a prem team till now, Agba no one wanted in the prem (albeit started poor this season) Toti and doc were part of a team that won 6 in a row, that’s prem quality but we can improve on them. The team we’ve got should be mid table easily this season. Patience

@Jrownes @AJReade Andre has been linked to Fulham since the beginning of time. Young players obviously won’t as they’re complete gambles until they prove themselves. The back 3 were more competent as they had better wingbacks that didn’t expose them.. Toti and Doc shouldn’t be starting in any team

@Seagz_ @AJReade Most of our players won’t bring premier league interest til they’ve been here a few seasons - Andre and Neto as examples. Doesn’t mean they’re not premier league standard players. Doc agba and toti were the back 3 when we won six in a row (that’s prem quality)
