Paypal is SHUTTING DOWN COMISSIONS. No more lewd commissions. Multiple reports of artists getting notices like these. This follows on the heel of Kickstarter saying Stripe is shutting down lewd kickstarters too. It's out of their control.

As an artist who does lots of commission work it is very normal to decline clients over "politics" because I don't want my work associated with statements I find harmful or uncomfortable. I stand by my beliefs and I'm not sacrificing them for monetary benefit. That's spineless

Nevada's Attorney General - and candidate for governor - Aaron Ford penned an op-ed claiming that the App Store Accountabilit Act (ASAA) is "not a law about speech; it is a law about commerce and contracts."
But the ASAA forces every American (adults and kids!) to go through mandatory age verification just to access apps.
That IS about speech.
That IS about access to information.
And it is very much a First Amendment issue.
"Parents need real tools to keep their kids safe" - they already have the tools to require their children to get permission to download apps. Tools only work if you use them. The ASAA is not a "tool", it is a government mandate that will give Big Tech more data...verified data.
A policy like this sounds great..."common sense", "protect children", "empower parents", "hold Big Tech accountable"...and the politicians and supporters are depending on citizens who are too distracted and too lazy to read the fine print.
The ASAA is a federal digital identity regime...and the goal is to expand control.
