This @TheNFER project has been hugely important. It’s about the wider context, the implications of change, & understanding the kind of non-technical skills that will ensure pupils thrive, whilst recognising the technical matter too. A huge reference point: nfer.ac.uk/key-topics-exp…

@richarlison97 Well said. This sort of racism makes me so cross. Anyone can miss a penalty and he shouldn’t be targeted about that (or anything actually) because of the colour of his skin. Fair play to Tel for putting his hand up to take one I say.

Winning or losing, getting it wrong or right, it’s all part of the game. Racism is not! Tel is still a young lad, great player at the beginning of his journey… and doesn't deserve this, just like anyone else. This type of behaviour has no place anywhere anymore. I hope these people (if I can even call them that) are severely punished!! It's so easy to hide behind a social media profile spreading hate and this kind of speach. Something has to change! We're with you, Tel!

@amanda_spielman @TheNFER As a country, we have a skills problem. It’s increasingly important young people have the EES required when they join the labour market. We’d welcome the opportunity to discuss offline with you the role education could play in tackling these issues, and hear your thoughts? [2/2]

@amanda_spielman @TheNFER Thanks @amanda_spielman for engaging. We are urging the government to explore whether and how Essential Employment Skills could be developed, alongside vital knowledge acquisition, as part of teaching core subjects within the curriculum (possibly via the C&A Review) [1/2]

Really worrying to see an organisation like @TheNFER go down the discredited 21st skills rabbit hole - skills like problem-solving and creativity are largely domain-specific and trying to teach them as generic skills will backfire.

Curriculum review should ‘incentivise’ schools to teach ’employment skills’, such as communication, organisation and problem-solving - @TheNFER study. More from @SchoolsWeek @FCDWhittaker schoolsweek.co.uk/curriculum-rev… #education #educationnews

It is time for the Govt to develop a better measure to ensure we can hold them to account for progress in improving outcomes of pupils from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. See our report tinyurl.com/4nzx77cj

The impact of Universal Credit transitional arrangements will make it increasingly hard to tell whether trends in the disadvantage gap are being driven by changes in the composition of the disadvantaged group, economic conditions or real changes in attainment

Disappointing to see the GCSE disadvantage gap has continued to widen in 2022/23, as it has done each year since 2019/20. What is driving this? Cost of living? Impact of Covid? Something else? Probably all of these, but we don't know. The measure is a black box…
