Indeed. Older African musicians too like Fela Kuti, Manu Dibango... In ages past live performances were the primary prize. Studio recordings for LP and tape were secondary. In fact for musicians like Fela some of his best known and loved songs are only available today because his live performances were recorded. He seldom bothered with studios. There is something about a live performance that cannot be captured by a recording.

Because Congolese artists make music for live shows and not for the internet only. Live shows are the blue print of their songs, the rest are secondary.

Apothéose pour l’artiste-musicien @fallyipupa01 Près de 150.000 personnes sur 2 jours, la fête à Fally ce 3 mai 2026 Record d’affluence battu pour la rumba congolaise au Stade de France avec le deuxième concert de Fally Ipupa ce 3 mai 2026. La deuxième date aura été utile, non pas pour renouveler l’exploit du SOLD OUT, mais pour renouveler l’expérience et la communion avec le public. Et pour faire la fête avec sons et feat de choix. « Bino tembe… » Car les chants à l’unisson étaient ce dimanche aussi puissants dans le stade à 80% rempli où successivement, la star a entonné ses chansons du terroir, Mabangas inclus, en lançant au public, « vous pensiez qu’on allait rester en Europe, bino tembe…, ehhhh, rumba na stade de France ». Cela a encore été historique ce dimanche soir, mieux que la veille, Fally Ipupa a promis, d’entrée des surprises.
