Currently cruising around Cape Horn and, unsurprisingly, we’re in a storm. We’re experiencing 50 knot winds, which places us on level 10 on the Beaufort scale. Long, slow lists side-to-side. The sea is all froth, white pervades, wind howls. Our ship, Viking Octantis, scoffs.
First snafu of a monthlong safari in Africa: our 5th bush flight of the trip Cessna caravan) had no brakes, which disconcertingly was found on the runway *just* before takeoff. We’re now waiting in the middle of the Serengeti for another plane, no ETA. As they say, Hakuna Matata
First day of safari in Africa (Zambia) and we already saw a white rhino. Tomorrow we visit Victoria Falls followed by 6 days of safari in Botswana, the predator capital of Africa.
