Grenada also has a French Creole language that is endangered. It currently has less than 500 speakers. But over 100 years ago the whole island was fluent and only spoke French Creole. Things can change super quickly if we don’t fight to preserve our afro- creole languages!

Barbados’ indigenous name is Ichirouganaim. Historians dispute what it means. One thought is “red land with white teeth”. Another thought is that it’s Ichirou-gà-naim “the island beyond” because of where it sits in the island chain

asking for a friend… I know peas are big in caribbean food, but what about lentils? we love them in Guadeloupe, are we the only ones? I rarely see them in Caribbean food posts. it’s called « lentilles consommées » on y met des condiments et du lard (avec parfois du curry)
