1. Gunter (@royalcourt / @DirtyHare_) The likelihood this show ends up in my dissertation is high. I’ve been thinking about it all year. Turning the lecture theatre into a theatre of cruelty, thematising the tension between the archive and memory. Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant.

2. @cablestmusical (@swkplay) This piece is so special. Such a salient, relevant event given such a nuanced treatment. How the music mirrors the communities, the temporal layers–Gilvin & @AlKayeAlKaye have the makings of a sweeping musical here. I can't wait to see what's next.

I was so fortunate to see 125 (!!) shows this year, & despite all the heaviness in the world, seeing so much brilliant theatre keeps me afloat. So I want to celebrate that with a little top 10 shows of the year. *limiting to new writing or at least new productions **also on bsky

I’m begging anyone setting out to write a piece of theatre about a historical woman to give her an actual personality beyond being a /headstrong woman raging against the system/ because if that is her only discernible trait you are doing her as much disservice as history has.

Today I cling to the impossibly vital notion that there are still people in this world making beautiful things. There is still theatre and music and stories and art showcasing how much love and light somehow endures on and on and on. May we find it in ourselves to do the same.

The amount of freelance writing job postings looking for writers with 'experience using AI to generate content' is horrifying. That is not what writers do. Hire writers because they write, do not ask them to do your ChatGPT-ing for you. What the hell.

I think I committed a reverse Boston Tea Party today *spilled tea on my American citizen abroad absentee ballot **it's okay it was just a bit of the outer envelope. vote is still going in the post tomorrow.
