🚨A data center (surveillance center) being built in Fayetteville, Georgia, ended up sucking up about 30 million gallons of water through two huge industrial hookups that the local utility had no idea even existed. One of them was installed behind the utility’s back, and the other wasn’t connected to any account, so nobody was paying for the water. They only figured it out after residents started complaining about super low water pressure. The whole campus is still under construction and probably won’t be finished for another three to five years. Separately, just last week in Tucson, Arizona, a contractor working on Project Blue got caught trucking city water out of town, even though residents had voted against the project. The city quickly shut off their temporary meter and told them they had to give back two acre-feet of water credits to make up for what was taken.
