Now on view at NYPL, "A Century of The New Yorker" draws on the Library's collections, which include The @NewYorker's archives and the papers of many writers & artists who contributed to it, to survey a hundred years of life at the magazine. on.nypl.org/3EKIM73

How do you make complex history (and complex today) accessible and relevant to wide audiences? Richardson: "I write it and write it until I understand it."

"People need stories. We are narratively driven." "History is the ground beneath our feet." What a true pleasure watching Andrew Delbanco and @HC_Richardson engage in definitions of history and the role of storytelling @nypl

I recently found out that Brooklyn has beautiful tie to #NationalComicBookDay- my hero and @Weeksville founder Joan Maynard wrote and illustrated for the Golden Legacy comic book series on Black history. (When I found out, I bought the whole series run secondhand off eBay!!!)

Today is #NationalComicBookDay! It honors the art, artists, and stories of comic books. From the earliest comic books, including "All-Negro Comics" (1947), produced by Philadelphia journalist Orrin C. Evans, to today's "Black Panther." #NMAAHCFutures

We had so much fun hosting show-and-tells last week for our colleagues in the @nypl communications dept. & the incoming class of @CullmanNYPL. Sharing some of the meaningful stories behind our collections is one of the best parts of the job!

Manuscripts curator @JulieThePH recently used the Brown Brothers & Company ledgers to discuss how 19th century banking firms financed southern slavery and fueled the growing global textile economy. The collection of Brown Brothers ledgers is available on Digital Collections.
