I know UVA has done an all woman heart txp (Yarboro/Downs) as well as Colorado (Rove/Taylor/Lin) and those are just the ones I know of over the last 4 years. @UVA_TCV_Surgery @CUDeptSurg

This highlights just how much more work needs to be done to educate everyone, especially our leaders; we think we’re doing well addressing our biases, then this happens. And it’s not just once, changing minds takes constant work. Huge wake up call for everyone.

I became a Thoracic surgeon because I love the field and caring for patients. I am not here to fill a diversity quota or because of luck. I worked really hard and earned my place. DEI is critical and should matter to everyone @STS_CTsurgery @LatinoSurgery @MUSCSurgery

@Awesomecloss Hugh, It was a very sad moment for our profession. Clearly, we have a lot of work to do to support and respect everybody in cardiothoracic surgery regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, Country of origin Our differences are what make us better!
