@GenePark I'm only 110 minutes in and I like the story. I dunno why people are so upset. Do they need everything fed to them like children? There's story everywhere.

i’m honestly so over how childish gaming discourse has become
Lance McDonald@manfightdragon

@GenePark I dont understand why so many people have attached their ego to Crimson Desert. What is going on here? The game is the most 7/10 thing imaginable. No narrative yet you're forced to play as generic sword and shield dude in an offline MMO world where nothing happens. So strange.

💀 I just did this quest myself a minute ago, immediately came in here to find this post I saw earlier today. You..... You literally just need to walk up to the brazier with your bow drawn... I'll feature it in the next video I make on Crimson Desert. I-- This is what I mean, man. I don't get it. Just call the story shit, guys, it's not hard to find beef against this game. Was it a bug? If so, fine, hey it happens. But otherwise... Wtf? We don't have to do this weird thing where "oh my god the mechanic isn't working or oh the puzzles are too hard or oh the movement/controls is too alien"... It's just making mfs look braindead and like they can't adapt to the bare minimum of game-design that isn't DIRECTLY guiding player's hands.😭 It's making these mfs look like all they play is visual novels and movie games.

For anyone that couldn't figure out how to put your arrow on fire, I have no idea why I have to be at certain angle to lit the arrow... The more I play this game the more I am getting frustrated

@MNCVKG @SynthPotato Have you played mmos before? You tend to do exploring on the way to and from quests for efficiency. I'd wager because this started as an mmo, you'd find more success in that approach.

@SynthPotato Did you start finding the side quests / good exploration before or after the cows/wooly etc string of quests? Trying to figure out when I should go out and start living my life in this game lol

My first impressions of Crimson Desert after 4 hours: - The biggest flaw is the story, the writing is simply abysmal. Not one character is interesting; Kliff has no real history, motivations, an interesting personality, or anything that drives him. Dialogue in the main quest is across the board boring. I wish I could skip through dialogue like in other RPGs, fast forward is honestly not fast enough. - Combat is great, it’s very aggressive, and it feels like running enemies down with how many different abilities they give you to mess them up, especially the martial art moves that have you throwing and tackling enemies. - Controls are strange; I am getting used to them, but they actively ignore all modern game design standards. They aren't unplayable, but it’s one aspect that needs re-thinking in a future update. - The world is gorgeous, exploration is a blast. On the way to a quest, I found a weird painted wall in a pit. After investigating it, I realized it was hiding a secret room with a puzzle that required me to find its clues from the nearby region. It was a really interesting emergent gameplay moment that involved no markers. - Quest design quality varies, main quests so far have felt like mediocre fetch quests, while a couple of side quests have had genuinely interesting writing and characters, with cool objectives. - While visuals are great on my PS5 Pro in performance mode, there is a strong amount of pop-in and some strange lighting issues in certain scenes, especially with weird noise on things. Also, frame-rate drops below 60FPS in towns. - User Interface design is not good, I have no idea why the inventory system is not properly sorted between weapons/armor/etc., like pretty much all other RPGs, and instead has every item showing all at once with no proper separation. It needs a complete redesign. Overall I am enjoying Crimson Desert but its very far from perfect, I haven't explored much yet as I am mostly sticking to getting through the tutorial phase first and just unlocked the Greymanes camp, so expect more thoughts later.

is USB-C the final evolution of ports or is there any possible design that could replace it in the future before we go fully wireless

@Okami13_ If you guys are that worried about generative ai in games, you'll have to pay a lot more for the game. Sounds like a nice idea, but these companies are trying to create jobs for people and that requires reaching the masses because 1000 sales are not enough.

AI art has been found in Crimson Desert. This wall painting was spotted in the game and is clearly AI generated. There are other potential examples as well, incredibly disappointing.

Saw a lot of confusion about sprint jumping in Crimson Desert and I’ve figured out how it works (its weird): - You CAN sprint jump but you CANNOT be pressing sprint at the same time - Toggle sprint by tapping X/A once or double tap - Then press jump to sprint jump

A Redditor has discovered an AI generated artwork in Crimson Desert. There are other posts that also claim to have found AI generated images throughout the game. It’s not even a “good” image. Pure slop, just look at the horses legs LMAO. Really disappointing.

I think I’m definitely in the minority here but I didn’t find the controls that hard to get used to in Crimson Desert. It’s RDR 2 and GTA controls mixed with fighting game combat controls. Saw people complain about the X button to jump and A to run when it’s literally been that way in GTA for years and no one complains about it there lmao.

Played about 7 hours of Crimson Desert so far, the best way I can explain this game it's like Dragon's Dogma got fused with an old school adventure game, like old school Zelda. It's very obtuse, weird at times. The mission structure is very odd, you complete missions by helping townsfolk for all kinds of things. I had to find cows that were taken, but I needed to use a special helmet to view the memory of the bad guys at the scene, but to use it, I had to put the helmet on, click it in a sub menu & then select a memory. There's a lot of really weird obtuse things like this in Crimson Desert, it is not a game I think most people will understand at first, but I can tell the more I play it's a game that is going to be very deep mechanically the more I put into it. It feels like old school Zelda to me in the way that nothing is holding my hand, things just happen, I just find things & stories unfold. The combat is pretty good so far, I like how the powers can be used. For example you can chop a tree down, pick it up with your nature power & use it as a pole to smash enemies to death. You can also drop kick dudes & leap off your horse in mid air & Hulk smash enemies. Again a very weird game, definitely not the standard AAA western gaming is used to which is evident. But I'm keen to keep peeling this onion, cause this game is rewarding, but it's definitely a weird one.
