If only everyone knew what the best teachers do! Kids are people and deserve to be treated accordingly. When setting up routines and procedures, teachers focus on learning rather than compliance and control!

TIPS for TEACHING and LEARNING #4 Have students process and summarize their learning inside and outside of class. Use homework as formative assessment data vs a management tool.

Help students access and use prior knowledge at the beginning of each new unit of study. Don't ever skip this step!

Hey Teachers!!...Make use of 10:2 Theory and Wait Time For every 10 minutes of instruction allow students 2 minutes to process Allow students 3-5 seconds of ‘think-time’ after asking a question - then draw a random name to answer the question

Begin with the end in mind... the end of the year, the end of the unit, the end of a lesson. Always ask what students are supposed to know as a result of the unit or lesson.

Leadership is preferable to management. Managing implies maintaining the status quo while leading implies taking to a new place. Leadership is preferable in the classroom.
