@Paulie_Bruz @LIONHEART2888 Shoulda picked Sewell. Needed a OT at the time & he was the best available.

@LIONHEART2888 They were never going to extend Darnold based on his play so I don’t think one or the other matters. No matter what QB they took at the top the draft that entire class is ass

@RobbySabo The mistake was not keeping him for at least 1 more season. They coulda drafted a much needed OT in Sewell & seen what they had. Instead of reaching for Zach Wilson.

The New York Jets did NOT make a mistake by unloading Sam Darnold. ***The unforgivable mistake was instead NOT understanding how important a Kevin O’Connell or Kyle Shanahan-type head coach is in today’s NFL.
I don’t care if Darnold played 80 years in a Jets uniform: Nothing positive would have happened for him under the coaching pattern the Jets have utilized in the last decade.
What was Sam in Carolina? A hot mess, and Carolina is hardly big market. He then takes some time in QB rehab in the Shanahan system, takes a crash course in Kevin O’Connell’s QB/OC play-calling school, and he’s suddenly morphed into the guy we see today.
Mere coincidence? Or, could it be that the game we have today demands a particular set of coaching prerequisites/skills to develop a young QB?
Frustrating for Jets fans? Oh, yes. But direct the energy where it belongs …
It’s all about the coaching, my good people. It ALL begins there.
