In 14 years as a doctor I’ve never known such horrific conditions. Patients dying on trolleys with zero dignity. Or screaming & moaning in corridors. Dickensian overcrowding, total implosion. Despair. Weeping staff. Abject misery. Do you care at all @Jeremy_Hunt? @SteveBarclay?

Outrageous • MPs’ Menu in Parliament: “Pressed duck leg and caper terrine with celeriac & mustard remoulade & sour dough toast” — Cost: £4.52 (subsidised by you). • NHS Staff Menu in Hospital: “Macaroni Cheese” — Cost: £7.25 (paid by NHS nurses).

In 30 years of UN climate negotiations, eliminating the primary cause of global heating - fossil fuels - has never been mentioned in the decisions, not even in the COP27 in 2022. And these were the results.

Reminder the last time the Tories told us we “needed” austerity: 4,394% increase in foodbank users 🍞 330,000 excess deaths ❌ 600,000 more children in poverty 🚸 486% increase in NHS trolley waits 🏥 800 public libraries closed 📚 #EnoughIsEnough

@UnLtd Although I now provide impact and evaluation support to a range of third sector organisations (including social enterprises), these early interactions with social entrepreneurs have stayed with me. A helpful reminder that in a sector full of jargon, plain language is key.

Around seven years ago I made the switch from working in international development, specifically in monitoring & evaluation (M&E),  to becoming an impact practitioner in the UK social enterprise sector. It wasn’t a decision I took lightly.

@NPCthinks (typos, being late to meetings, forgetting names and other key details - I could go on!) But for me ’being professional’ is about being guided by the values that are important to me.

I’ve been a freelance impact practitioner for over 18 months now and have recently had a few reflective conversations about what’s important to me in my work.  3 things have stood out. 1. Collaboration: I’m at my best when I’m collaborating with others.
