Boys have always taken part in household chores tbh. The issue is their fathers don't. So they internalize their chores as a childhood role they're playing in their homes and can't wait to grow up and find a wife to take over the labour. They need to see their fathers-

lots of talk about raising boys to also participate in household chores, but I think one of the best things we can do for them (and this is gender neutral really!) is teaching them to walk into a room and notice what needs to be done, and then do it without being asked.
