Excited to have facilitated a meeting between artists at Hungerford and new owner, with a plan for moving forward. Good communication can start to build trust. I do believe everyone wants same thing for the historic property - a vital and thriving community hub. #ROC

@rachbarnhart @kellycheatle I’m struggling to remain cautiously optimistic given everything that has happened. Nothing seems to be getting any better, the building is becoming more vacant, and eventually the decades long community that has been built here is going to be gone. Then what? Does it not matter?

@kellycheatle Yes! I am cautiously optimistic on Hungerford. I do believe by all parties continuing dialogue, artists will have input and their needs will be considered. No surprises. People brought along in rehab. It doesn’t serve the new owner well to destroy the community at the building.

@rachbarnhart This thread has not aged very well, has it? Thank you for your support, but things don’t seem to be very promising or supportive for the artists and small businesses there. Very sad that this historic arts building continues to go downhill. We as tenants, can only do so much.

Had a great conversation with Peter Hungerford, who recently purchased The Hungerford Building. Huge structure needs work - roof, elevators, bathrooms. There are vacant spaces. Still figuring out what should be done. Wants artist community to stay/expand, be big part of future.
