Queens HC Grant Leonard on why the Royals culture stood out through the D2 to D1 transition, and how ultimately the program powers on "The character of the players. A championship program, you can win games with talented kids but championships are won with character. Queens is a student centered place, they get an individualized experience. The players serve the community and build it through basketball. It's the great kids, good kids want to go to Queens. When things get hard, we fight and that's why we win."

Queens University HC Grant Leonard with a nice quip about Oscar Cluff and Queens' location "Someone asked if I was mad that the Purdue center didn't know we were in North Carolina? No. This is an awesome way to bring more light to the school. Queens is an amazing place. It is life changing. Queen's mission is provide a transformational educational experience to our students. It is a very student-centered culture. But I have been there 13 years, and it has provided a life-changing experience to me. More people need to know about how unique and special Queens is, Charlotte, Myers Park how beautiful the neighborhood is, but how the education, it really prepares people for their next phase in life in a special way. I have been at six schools, and this is by far the most special place I have ever been."
