Custody Sergeant Craig Cartman @metpoliceuk died on 25/1/21 aged 47. He had 21 years’ service, having moved from Skipton N. Yorks to join the Met in 2000. He was survived by his teenage son & left 5 adult step children. His family are grateful to ICU staff who treated him.

PCSO Graham 'Wez' Dinning, Northumbria died on 28th October 2020 aged 48. He was survived by wife Laura and their son Adam. “We are absolutely devastated beyond words. He was a caring & loving husband & father – & an incredible friend who will be greatly missed by so many."

PC John Hewitt, MoD Police died in June 2020, in his 30th year of service aged 53. He served at Clyde & Garlogie but more recently in Essex. He left widow Maria, his two sons, two step-children and two grandchildren, Orla and Anthony.

Police Staff Ramesh Gunamal died aged 70 on 9th May 2020. He joined the Met aged 58 and worked on the front desk at Forest Gate in Newham for 12 years. He was still serving until he tested positive for the virus. His son Tarun said "my dad was my hero"

Prison Officer Kate Kelly, 65, died on 26 April 2020. She had worked at HMP Manchester for 12 years. Gov. Robert Knight said “Kate was a much loved & dedicated member of the team. She will be sorely missed & is very much in our hearts & thoughts.”

Popular HMP Dovegate Prison Officer Earl ‘Sam’ Fuller died on 29th April 2020 aged 60. Born in Jamaica, he emigrated to Britain at 14. CSgt Fuller served with Worcestershire & Sherwood Foresters Regt for more than 20 yrs and was the British Army’s first black Drum Major.

Emmanuel, a cleaner at the Ministry of Justice main building died on April 23rd 2020 at 10:30pm. He was very unwell & worked the day he died; he had no sick pay or PPE. Emmanuel was from Guinea Bissau. His union lambasted his treatment by OCS & the MOJ. uvwunion.org.uk/en/news/2020/0…

Her Honour Elizabeth Steel passed away on 23rd April 2020 aged 84. She was survived by her sister, two children and four grandchildren, all of whom gave her great joy. Her children raised over £4000 for charity in her memory.

A cleaner at the Ministry of Justice main building died in April 2020. Following their death, UVW members who clean the MoJ walked off the job to protect themselves from COVID-10 following a repeated failure to provide them with adequate PPE. twitter.com/UVWunion/statu…

Rachael Yates, prison officer at HMP Usk in Monmouthshire died on 21st April 2020 aged 33. She was a popular prison officer and was well known in Usk. “Rachael was a much loved daughter, friend and was loved by anyone who came into contact with her.”

Retired Magistrate Peter Waterfield of Wisbech died aged 71. Peter was the director of TES Europe. As he was dying he was being treated by NHS staff working without any PPE. He instructed his business partner at TES to begin to make PPE and they continued to do so in his memory.

Mary Day, usher at Luton County/Family Court died at this time in 2020 in hospital following a lengthy admission. Mary was well known to all. Energetic, competent, above all kind, she was a keen charity fundraiser. The face and heart of Luton, staff & Judiciary miss her dearly.

DC John Coker of @BTP died on 17th April 2020 aged 53. He had 10 years' service and was based at Euston. “He was much loved and respected... charismatic, kind, thoughtful and took everything in his stride” He is survived by his widow and three children.

Matthew Seligman, specialist caseworker at Campbell Taylor, unreg. Barrister (1994 call) died on 17th April 2020 aged 64. Matthew specialised in mental health, community care & unlawful detention. He was also a successful bassist who played with David Bowie and other big names.

Steve Knight, a self-employed police station defence lawyer from Folkestone died on 14th April 2020. Steve was working when he fell ill. “He had a lovely cell-side manner & will be much missed” Steve died on his 70th birthday, leaving behind his wife, Jenny.

A “fiercely loving” interpreter who reunited refugee children with UK relatives died on 11th April 2020 aged 43. Mona Mahmoud spoke an array of languages. “She was fierce, strong, politically minded & a caring mother” Before C-19 she was well. She leaves a widower & 5 children

Neil Astles, in-house Local Authority commercial property Solicitor at Warrington Borough Council, died Sunday 4th April 2021 aged 59. He was admitted to the Roll in 2015 and leaves behind his wife and his sister, Dr Alison Astles. Doctors suspect he died of the AZ vaccine.

Umar Afzal, a 'kind and professional' accredited interpreter working within the justice system and much loved brother of @nazirafzal, passed away on 8th April 2020 of covid-19 aged 71. He had previously been healthy and well. He is survived by his seven children.
