Hopefully FanDuel will be quickly forced to change that. Especially during a rebuild. We need the Cat, the funniest (best?) dugout/OF/locker-room reporter in regional cable journalism now more than ever. There are dwindling reasons to purchase the TV package from afar …
Derrick Goold@dgoold

More Jim Hayes AND more Alexa Datt on #Cardinals broadcasts would clearly be preferred. That is not the direction FanDuel is going, reports ⁦@caesardan⁩ for @stltoday. stltoday.com/sports/profess…

Duffer bros. with a super esoteric callback to The Day After (I’m sure of it) in season 5 of Stranger Things: “A fresh telemetry tag—scarcer than hen’s teeth, these things.” (After Lawrence is nuked in TDA it was a student bunkered in the KU science lab who said it about a radio)

Just re-read “The Road” and found this great paper that uses McCarthy Easter eggs (previous books, “See Rock City”, the town descriptions, etc) to try and nail down the actual route. Reading the book in 06, I remember thinking: this HAS to be the SC coast. trace.tennessee.edu/cgi/viewconten…

@katiejwoo @FabianArdaya Congrats, Katie! You’ve been great on the Cardinals beat, chronicling/historically contextualizing these lean years of a great franchise. It stung when the Dodgers won it all with Edman and Flaherty, but now you and possibly Donovan and maybe a three peat… feels like too much.

The apparent “allure” of LSU doesn’t make one sympathetic to Lane Kiffin, but it does remind me of the memoir “It Never Rains in Tiger Stadium” by John Ed Bradley, who, without any maudlin sentimentality, made me feel why it was special. One of the best books about sports.

@dgoold @PassingDrill It would be so fun if the Cardinals signed Schwarber (I know it’s much more likely Hades would develop frostbite).

@JustinHeckert “First we find out who killed our guys—then we wipe that smile off his goddamn face…” Favorite Chiklis line read of the series, staring down AA. That season and the last one are right at the top for me all-time as well. Never, ever mentioned on the lists of such things.

@robwein And before he got hair restoration! It’s impossible to pick a favorite single season ever of TV, BUT the season with Glenn Close going after Anthony Anderson could be that for me. I’ve only seen the season once, too. Better than any season of an HBO prestige show, IMO.

@JustinHeckert No doubt. Feel like people are belatedly worshiping Walt Goggins without even knowing about Shane Vendrell…

“Big Games” at noon are exquisitely dumb. Nobody is ready for them yet. The day itself isn’t ready for them yet. 3:30 for “Big Games” at the earliest and the darker the evening, the better.

@CouzWalker Missouri’s stadium is under renovation, cutting seating by 6,000 this season (and raising it next), and the Mountaineers have done next to nothing in the Big 12 since moving there.

It had to be Springer. It had to happen in the most eternally tortuous way. It had to be the kind of devastating cruelty that leaves Cal Raleigh standing on deck. Baseball, like life, isn’t fair. But you already know that. You’re a Mariners fan. seattletimes.com/sports/mariner…
