Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit; wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad. Philosophy is wondering if a Bloody Mary counts as a smoothie!

This is the closest overturned call we've seen so far. An ⅛ of a millimeter farther outside and it's a ball.

@drudy30 @RiedellAndrew Is it random when drawing it from one point to another to show an approximate path of the ball in relation to the height of the bottom of the strike-zone?

SEC umpiring has been terrible this weekend. All over the country. Just terrible.

@WSMFP73 @AYSSPORTS The ball isn’t going to have a visible arc when analyzing it in a .05 second timeframe. The straight line is going to be pretty dang close. I never said this was some scientific drawing that was precise to the micron. My whole point is it wasn’t low, like everyone is saying.

@Justin_Lachney @AYSSPORTS I’m not arguing the ball or strike. You tried to prove a point with a straight line. That’s not possible with an off speed pitch. It would be an arch.

@WSMFP73 @AYSSPORTS Draw your line of how that ball progressed that shows it outside of the zone either high or low. The two photos are .05 seconds apart in real time… that ball is not some magic orb that is going to change too drastically from that straight line.

@Justin_Lachney @AYSSPORTS It wasn’t a fastball. Gravity plus top spin on an off speed pitch combined forces the ball on a sharp downward trajectory. You drew a straight line. How is this not hard to understand?

@WSMFP73 @AYSSPORTS Please draw a line on the photo that illustrates how that pitch was “too low” when it went across the plate. I’m curious.

@Kevin_Hitt @JomboyMedia And it still doesn’t matter. What matters is how the rule is written! And players must follow that rule; not what “more than just me” think.

@Kevin_Hitt @JomboyMedia Well… let’s teach ALL professional players to play based off how some dude named Kevin “think(s)” the rule should be.

@SchottHayden Mehhhh… I don’t think he will lose sleep. Catcher absolutely hung him out to dry with how he received that pitch. Brutal job by the catcher.

@WSMFP73 @AYSSPORTS Explain how it works then. Did the ball dip below the zone from the time we see it in photo one, and then come back up when we see it in photo two? THAT is not how gravity works.

@Kevin_Hitt @JomboyMedia The rule allows a legal way to run. It isn’t a bad rule. Players just have to follow the rule. It’s on them!

@iammattromero @FreedomRocks9 @11point7 Ok, so my point being, AT THE WORST this is where it went. With curve/trajectory, it was potentially higher than the line. It certainly wasn’t below the line and then came UP from the position of the ball in photo one and two.

@Kevin_Hitt @JomboyMedia That is actually covered in the rule. The runner, assuming he has run legally the entire time, is allowed to exit the lane in his final step in order to touch the base.

@Justin_Lachney @Tingle__Co That’s the leg to stand on. The way he received it made it look like a throwaway pitch in an 0-2 count, combine that with a delayed strike three call, you get a reaction. That’s science.

@FreedomRocks9 @11point7 It’s literally a straight line between the top of the ball from one frame to the next. The catcher received that pitch as poorly as you possibly could. But the ball crossed at the knees.
