@NekiasNBA Question - do we know how these contracts are structured? For instance, Chelsea signed 3 years for $3M. Does that necessarily mean she’s getting paid $1M this year as opposed to a lower number this year with backloaded money to align with the expected cap increase?

My general Vegas thought: secure the big three for 3.5 (or less) and they're in really good shape to make another splash + round the roster out.
If A'ja does get the full super max (1.4), that's 2.1 to split between Jackie/Chelsea -- seems doable but we'll see

@OlsenTilly @LVAcesNews This is a good point. If we assume there’s no restrictions under the CBA the multi-year contracts can be backloaded to align with the expected cap increases. Can’t do as much cap gymnastics as the NFL but definitely still possible to make it work

Like i get it shams need to stay in NBA news but if WNBA reporters want to be the ones breaking the news they have to just do it fans want the who, what, and when now not a press release three hours late saying “i heard about that”.

@_Erin_Lan They lost Kate for Tip and still lost Tip. It was a mistake last season too. Fact is other than the big 3 & Lyss no one else was likely to be taken bc everyone is a FA who is not likely to be offered the max. It’s the process that has people confused not the caliber of player

Teams had to submit their protected player lists on Sunday. Those lists won’t be released and the free agency of it all makes things a bit difficult to predict, but this story at least has the rules and some context ⬇️

Unpopular opinion: Chargers are having a good FA so far without breaking the bank on players who will handicap the team moving forward.

Chargers are re-signing Del'Shawn Phillips to a 2 year, $7.5 million deal worth up to $10.5M per NFL Network. Phillips was 3rd in the NFL in special teams tackles last year (18). He earned an AP second team All-Pro nomination and an 82.2 ST grade from PFF. Great move!

I just can’t get behind the Chargers paying or trading for a veteran WR what it will cost when Branson Taylor, Ben Cleveland, and Bud Dupree are currently starting at LG, RG, and EDGE2 before free agency starts. If you want to add Rashid Shaheed because of his returner ability too then fine but paying $20 million+ per year for Pierce, Evans, Doubs, Jennings, or Brown plus draft capital just seems irresponsible to me. Plus Tre Harris is ready to be the guy everyone wants them to add imo.

Chargers will have virtually $100 mil in cap space-point blank, *no* excuse not to fix the IOL this year in FA + draft. It is very much a legacy offseason for Joe Hortiz in that regard.
