Let me help you out and give you my thoughts on DEI 1. Diversity Good businesses look where others don't, to find the employees that will put your business in the best possible position to succeed. You may not agree, but I take it as a given that there are people of various races, ethnicities, orientation, etc that are regularly excluded from hiring consideration. By extending our hiring search to include them, we can find people that are more qualified. The loss of DEI-Phobic companies is my gain. 1a. We live in a country with very diverse demographics. In this era where trust of businesses can be hard to come by, people tend to connect more easily to people who are like them. Having a workforce that is diverse and representative of your stakeholders is good for business.

Maybe we should eliminate it like we eliminate other tax rules, like the mortgage insurance premium deduction.

The carried interest tax break doesn’t incentivize any new behavior, or any better behavior; hedge fund managers would perform their duties in the same way whether the tax break exists or not.

Congress incentivizes behaviors by providing a tax break for performing that behavior. Mortgage interest deduction incentivizes financing the purchase of your home. EV credit encourages buying electric vehicles. Carried interest incentivizes hedge fund managers to do…their job?

If you think nobody cares about you, just stop paying taxes. The IRS will show you that you matter to them.

If you’re a contract worker, necessary miles traveled in a personal vehicle to perform that work could be tax deductible. Just like the Mandalorian; his parsecs traveled between planets to fill bounties would be deductible. Hear that, you’re basically the Mandalorian.

Mortgage insurance premiums are no longer tax deductible in 2022. This mostly affects lower income taxpayers because they’re the ones who are typically required to pay for mortgage insurance. (Subtext: It’s more expensive to be poor)

Maybe health insurance should cover vision and dental care because that’s part of your health.
