@PushTheSutton @KieranGreen2003 @socdemtomm I did a fair bit of canvassing, we picked up some Labour, but majority was Lib Dem voters who switched. In fairness to the local Lib Dem’s, they fact the national Lib Dem’s seem to have no platform.

I thought Liverpool was meant to be an area of lib dem growth 😭

@SeedyEFC88 @liamrobinson24 I think you need to look up how a coalition works, Lib Dem’s could have withdrew support for the Tories at any point, they backed them all the way. When they were the only alternative to labour in Liverpool they got a few seats, but I think we will see the green overtake them.

We’re still suffering from Lib Dem’s jumping into bed with the Tories, Lib Dem response: “oh it was years ago! We’ve changed, we promise”

@robmcuk Labour only picked up the seat 10 years ago because the Lib Dem’s jumped into bed with the Tories. It was a solid Lib Dem seat prior to that.

Congratulations to Paul Ruddick and the Greens on their win in Aigburth. I wish him well in serving the ward. Huge thanks to David Thomas, who was an excellent Liberal Democrat candidate. I am incredibly proud of the campaign he ran and of the calibre of character we offered to the residents of Aigburth. I know he will continue to serve. The bigger story tonight is Labour. This was a safe Labour seat for ten years until 2021. They had not lost a by election in Liverpool for 27 years until last year, and tonight they have fallen to third place and seen their vote share collapse from 31.87% three years ago to a shocking low of 10.21%, a drop of nearly 22%, in a ward where they finished second just three years ago and which they held for a decade until 2021. In Aigburth, that Labour vote collapse has clearly benefited the Greens, but let’s be absolutely clear: this is a total Labour collapse. In a ward their Southport MP held until just 2021, Labour’s vote has crumbled here and it is crumbling across the city too, whatever spin they try to put on it. Of course, being on the losing side of an election is never easy, but we win together and lose together, determined to turn our city around and move on from Labour’s failed lost years that voters are now rejecting. We will continue to work hard, serve the people of this city, and remain at their service.

The state of council parks is the result of 14 years of Conservative austerity. Council budgets were cut year after year backed by MPs like Suella Braverman, Lee Anderson, Robert Jenrick and Danny Kruger, now leading voices in Reform.

The growth in @TheGreenParty membership in Knowsley is unbelievable, with elections this year and all outs not too far away there has never been a more exciting time to be part of The Green Party.

Liverpool has always rejected fascism, racism & hatred in all its forms. I fully support the statement from the Merseyside Anti-Fascist Network. The UK Independence Party don’t represent our city or the true values of Christianity. Faith should never be weaponised.

@hoppyite We’ve made huge improvements to our disciplinary and safeguarding procedures, work still to do. But there are very few members on SPI and these are reviewed quarterly at GPC meetings.

@KAITAYLOR Next must surely be getting justice for the green party members stuck on no fault suspensions for years without a hearing? Sorting out the corrupted disciplinary system that leaves members stuck suspended when they probably are innocent?
