"Kenya, positioned as the gateway to North, West, and East Africa, is a strategic priority for FedEx. Its dynamic economy and role as a dominant trade partner in the East African Community make it a natural hub for FedEx’s investment in infrastructure, service capability, and digital tools. " - FedEx Managing Director, Sales (Sub-Saharan Africa) - Leon Oswald Bruwer For manufacturers, this translates into faster transit times, greater shipment visibility, and dependable delivery commitments, all critical for competing in regional and international supply chains. #KAMTakesYouThere

The Norwegian Ambassador and Permanent Representative to UNEP and UN Habitat,@NorwayAmbKenya , has today paid a courtesy visit to Kenya Association of Manufacturers to explore areas of collaboration. During the meeting, KAM Chief Executive @TobiasAlando , highlighted the major challenges manufacturers face, including unpredictability in policy and tax changes, global competitiveness, high regulatory burden, high cross-border payment charges, and the high cost of logistics. He emphasized that such meetings are critical for fostering dialogue, strengthening partnerships, and identifying practical solutions to support the growth and sustainability of Kenya’s manufacturing sector. Ambassador Moe highlighted the importance of expanding trade opportunities between Norway and Kenya, noting that this would provide a valuable avenue to leverage Norwegian skills, technology, and innovation for the growth and modernization of the Kenyan manufacturing sector. She emphasized the need for targeted capacity-building initiatives between the two countries, which would enhance technical expertise, improve productivity, and promote knowledge transfer. She also underscored the potential for deeper collaboration in the energy sector, particularly in renewable energy and sustainable solutions. “𝐵𝑦 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜𝑔𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟, 𝑁𝑜𝑟𝑤𝑎𝑦 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐾𝑒𝑛𝑦𝑎 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑢𝑛𝑙𝑜𝑐𝑘 𝑛𝑒𝑤 𝑜𝑝𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑒𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑜𝑛𝑙𝑦 𝑏𝑜𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑢𝑓𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑔𝑦 𝑠𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑠 𝑏𝑢𝑡 𝑎𝑙𝑠𝑜 𝑐𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑗𝑜𝑏𝑠, 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑚𝑜𝑡𝑒 𝑖𝑛𝑛𝑜𝑣𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑏𝑢𝑖𝑙𝑑 𝑎 𝑠𝑢𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑓𝑢𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑏𝑜𝑡ℎ 𝑛𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠,” she added. This afternoon, @EABCjumuiya Executive Director, Mr. @AhmedFarah__ , paid a courtesy visit to the @KAM_Kenya Chief Executive, @TobiasAlando During the meeting, discussions centered on how the two organizations can work together to amplify the voice of the private sector in the East African Community (EAC) through policy advocacy. This can be realized through regular and structured engagement meetings among the private sector Business Member Organizations (BMOs). One of the key policy advocacy agendas would be addressing non-tariff barriers (NTBs) which are the key challenges undermining growth of intra-EAC trade, currently standing at 15%, against a target of 40%. Also discussed is the need to uncover commercial opportunities available in the region for consideration by potential investors. Mr. Alando took the opportunity to share KAM's expectations of EABC in its mandate to address member issues across the East African region. 1. Membership Engagement KAM emphasized the importance of EABC facilitating forums that enable members to build networks, foster interactions, and collectively address issues affecting them. Additionally, KAM requested that EABC organize awareness sessions to educate and guide members on the full range of services available to them. 2. Advocacy and Policy As a Member-Based Organization with a policy and advocacy mandate, EABC was urged to ensure that its teams across the East African Region align on common positions regarding laws and policies, acting as a unified bloc rather than as individual countries. KAM further proposed a sectoral approach to identifying key challenges, opportunities, and needs within the EAC, alongside quarterly engagements to champion legislation and policies that drive business growth across the region. Both leaders underscored the importance of working together to deliver tangible value to the business community. KAM reaffirmed its support for EABC in achieving its objectives, with both organizations committing to speaking in one voice on issues that matter to the regional business community. #KAMAdvocacy
