Josi averages just 32% on the PK, which is PK2 usage and nominal volume comparative to the top PK guys in Skjei and Perbix who sit around 60-62%. Head to head, Josi ran 24:42 in a 4-2 win vs Seattle earlier this month and he saw just 1:32 PP minutes and :32 on the PK, very aligned with our low penalty narrative. He also only saw 23:48 in a 4-1 loss in January, with just 1:51 PP and :45 PK. Another major key here is that in looking at opposing defensemen vs the Kraken, in 30 games played from January 1st through the last game, only FOUR d men have cleared this line. Quinn Hughes and Brock Faber went 28+ in an OT win back in January, Hronek went 27:29 in an OT game that went to shootout, and Charlie McAvoy went 28+ in a 4-2 win which included 2:16 PP min and 4+ PK min, as well as EN usage before the empty net goal sealed the game. The key is that top line Pk usage being a differentiator. Even Miro Heiskanen saw 3+ PP and 5+ PK minutes and still fell short back in February with 25:49 due to a lopsided multi-goal win. There are a multitude of factors that need to happen for D men to hit this line, and it typically is bolstered by overtime, and/or high volume PK AND PP usage, not one or the other, which is the case for a PP1 guy like Josi.
