On top of that, they aren't good at it, they have a domestic political model that doesn't support large-scale military mobilization, and the US prefers to keep them dependent anyway. Easier control.

It was launched because the Bush administration claimed Iraq had CURRENT, ongoing WMD programs that posed an imminent threat. Which it didn't.
