@MikeRollinsSIP @SIPGrinders1902 @MarkPilgerSIP So maybe I’m late with this question but, is the multiplication table to find actual diameter necessary due to the space between blades? Only asking because I keep telling people that!

🚨Mini Thread: Great read from @MarkPilgerSIP on the evolution of our precision at SIP, our Reel Diameter Tape, & WHY we use it. It also explains why we no longer call it the Pi Tape. You’ve heard me say, “SIP didn’t invent the pi tape. It was invented in the 40’s. We just utilize it as one of MANY tools to measure the CU.” Mark utilizes mylar, instead of metal, bc it doesn’t flex as easily as the steel does (as you pull it tight on smaller diameters) & it conforms to reels (going from blade tip to blade tip), more precisely. Just ask @jwilkinson__ which type he prefers now. The company in Texas that invented the metal pi tape and used it on SPACESHIPS in the 60’s has officially trademarked the name “Pi Tape.” So, those of you who joke that “we aren’t sending these cu’s to the moon, Mike; relax” are actually wrong… HA!

The students in Turf Equipment Operation and Maintenance class @OSU_ATI_Turf are learning to replace the pull rope on recoil starters. A valuable skill to know! And yes, that is a Peerless 7000 @SIPGrinders1902 in the background. It is an awesome addition for the students!

@Canadianeh79 It was pretty easy to build, we already had the pump (semi-trash) and all the fittings and valves sourced through farm supply or industrial supply vendors. Still working out the right recipe for the mulch/seed to water ratio and if we chose the right size hose!
